BIRMINGHAM, AL, October 6, 2021 - Mayer, one of the largest wholesale distributors of electrical products and equipment in the United States, announced today that its widely recognized brand will become a banner company under the Rexel USA name, following the planned acquisition of Mayer.

Mayer is a privately held, family-owned business that employs over 1,200 associates in 68 locations across 12 states. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close before year-end.

James W. “Wes” Smith will continue as President of Mayer under Rexel ownership. “We are honored and excited to join the Rexel Group, a progressive, innovative leader in the electrical distribution industry,” Smith said.
