Mayer’s Glenn Goedecke Takes Role as NAED Chairman

Mayer Electric Supply is honored once again to have one of its own serve as the National Association of Electrical Distributor’s Chairman.  In this role as NAED Chairman, Goedecke will preside over the industry’s national conference where as many as 700 member companies come together for high-level networking, trends analysis, education, and strategic planning time with trading partners.  Glenn also takes on the role as an ambassador for the industry and will be actively engaged in many committees and meetings throughout his year in office with the purpose to help the electrical distribution industry flourish and prosper.

Goedecke is the third executive from Mayer to serve as the NAED chair, with Charles Collat Sr. serving in 1986-87 and Jim Summerlin serving in 1998-99.

Goedecke is Mayer’s Executive Vice President of Business Development.   As sited in the trade journal for the electrical distribution industrial this month, he has always been that “Man with a Plan.”  From his early days of football at Tulane University to now being a part of the executive management team at Mayer and chairman of NAED, Glenn has put in the hard work towards his success. Glenn had not planned on a career in electrical distribution when he majored in political science; however, after marrying a fellow student, Nancy Collat whose family were the owners of Mayer, he joined the family business and put in his time and hard work to get to where he is today.

Working his way through outside account manager, counter sales manager, industrial sales manager, branch manager, operations manager, and division operations manager he gained exposure to virtually every facet of the company.  After 20 years of increasing experience with the company, Glenn was finally introduced to the executive management team. This long apprenticeship was the way his father-in-law, Charles Collat Sr., had intended for all family members.  Charles was quoted saying “You couldn’t jump into a job unless you earned it.” Glenn added “He believed in starting at the bottom and then moving to the top.”
