Mayer Electric Supply Company, a leading distributor of electrical, lighting, and communications products in the Southeast, has recently been certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise. Certification was issued by The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). The WBENC certification for women-owned businesses is one of the most widely recognized and respected certifications in the nation. The certification is accepted by over 700 major corporations across the country and a number of federal and government agencies. Among the certification requirements is proof of effective management and control of the business.
"We are very pleased at receiving WBE certification,” said Nancy Collat Goedecke, Chairman of the Board of Mayer. Being certified as a women-owned business enterprise enables Mayer to serve as a distributor to businesses that promote supplier diversity and procurement. She continued, “Each year we receive numerous requests to participate in supplier diversity programs on new construction and renovation projects–we can now say ‘yes’ to these requirements. We can now assure these projects receive Mayer’s standard high levels of service directly and yet provide cost-competitive materials– it will be a tremendous advantage to Mayer customers."
Mayer serves electrical contractors, builders, commercial businesses, and institutional and industrial facilities from 50 branches. Mayer employs about 850 associates with Corporate Headquarters located in Birmingham. The company is currently celebrating their 80th Anniversary as a family-owned business.
