Mayer Electric Supply Participates in NAED Congressional Fly-In Event
Attendees connected with lawmakers and lobbied for the electrical distribution industry
Birmingham, Alabama… Mayer Electric Supply Company recently participated in the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) Congressional Fly-In. The event took place September 7-8, 2011 in Washington, D.C.
Nancy Collat Goedecke, Chairman, and Wes Smith, President, represented Mayer at the event and met with staff members of Senators Shelby and Sessions. They were also able to spend time personally with Rep. Terri Sewell.
More than 25 NAED members from around the country attended this event, meeting with nearly 100 lawmakers and legislative staff on Capitol Hill. Attendees discussed some of the major topics affecting business and the electrical industry with their senators and representatives. These issues included: electric vehicles, energy tax incentives, the estate tax, LIFO, and federal regulations.
The NAED Congressional Fly-In included orientation and advocacy training, followed by a welcome reception and dinner on September 7. A breakfast featuring keynote speaker Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.), as well as a series of meetings with legislators took place on September 8. Prior to the event, NAED scheduled the meetings, provided an advocacy training webinar, and furnish preparatory resources on key legislation.
